I do a lot of things with my kids in terms of spending time with them and making sure they have experiences that enrich their lives and help them learn to be happy and healthy adults. A lot of times my kids are resistant to a lot of the activities and things I try to do with them, but every now and then there is a glimmer of hope that they appreciate the positive impact I am trying to have in their lives. One of the things we used to do a lot more often when they were younger was going for a ride. Sometimes we’d go to the mountains and go hiking or just a ride into the country to look at the changing seasons or just to calm everybody down and take a break from the screen. Recently, after we had run some errands, Miss A asked if we could go for a ride. It really meant a lot to me that she wanted to have some quiet hang out time because it means that I did something that was good for her that she enjoyed.

What a week.
This week was a demanding week for me. I face challenges with life balance on a regular basis, but I don’t think there have been any weeks when I faced so many major losses and challenges in every direction. My family is dealing with the second death in as many months, a good friend’s son had a major auto accident, another friend died suddenly, and the kids’ schools were in lock down. I have had these things happen before, but not all in the same week. I am really thankful for the diversion I have had practicing with my Copics. I wish there had been more time, but it helped me calm down and focus and I did not realize how much I needed that.
Learning new things.
Today I am thankful for learning new things. There seems to always be something new to read or learn in relation to the kids, but in December I completed an IT course. The biggest things I learned taking the class were that I can get through ANYTHING with God’s guidance and I will definitely manage my time much more closely for my future classes.
I knew I’d eventually go back to school, but I had no idea that this one class would lead me down the path to other classes and who knows what else. Here’s to who knows what else! LOLOL.
One of the classes I’m taking will be IT related, but another will be writing. Being engaged creatively really helps fire up the problem solving aspect of my brain. I’m really thankful that I know that and can apply it 🙂
