Inspiration Wednesday: Mardi Gras, Rainbows and Dry Wall Tape

There is no shortage of color inspiration in Louisiana, especially during Carnival season. Last week, the kids and I went to a ball in my sister’s honor and it was a feast for the senses. From the decorations to the costumes to the beads, I should be in the craft zone for months to come 🙂

This is phase one of my latest Inspiration Wednesday. I found myself at Home Depot picking a couple of things up (I had no idea they stocked Mod Podge – when did that happen?) There is a pretty good chance you will not recognize it when I’m done, but that’s the fun of art, isn’t it?

Mardi Gras Musings…

It’s not gumbo weather anymore, but I still miss the boot. I don’t miss pickpockets and public nudity (which will land folks in jail these days, but I KNOW somebody is still trying to go out like that), though. Just saying.

Have you ever had a day when you had so many things to do you just had to sit down and prioritize, cause there was no way it was all getting done? I’m right there. Right now.

My oldest son is going to be fifteen in a few days. Today he told me that I fuss at him and stick my nose into his business. It’s called my job. He’d better recognize. 🙂

I tried on a lipstick that I thought would be a cute nude. It ended up looking like Nicki Minaj. And while we are SO much alike (insert rolling eyes here) I don’t think that is a good thing.

Today I saw a van marked employee theft investigation slow down and stop in front of a house in my neighborhood. I wonder if they were trying to see if somebody renovated their house with office money… Hmmm…

I’ve got bible study tonight and I can’t wait! We are going through the books of the bible and I always find something interesting. What a way to spend Mardi Gras, huh?

16.44 miles.

All on a Mardi Gras Day…

My goal this week was to walk a slightly longer route. I did that every day I went walking except for today. It was rainy and cold and gray and I was wearing my raincoat and I had stuff on my mind so I cut it a bit short. I’m still happy with my total, though. Next week will not be as far because we have a three day holiday due to Presidents’ Day being Monday. Tuesday is Mardi Gras. I wish I was at home because all of this cold cloudiness is really good weather for gumbo. Sigh.

Laissez les bon bons rouler…

My youngest, Max, would say something like that. Just keep the candy moving, in his direction, and nobody will get hurt. LOL, Little A would say something more like laissez les chocolates rouler, because for her, it’s all about the chocolate. There are a couple of Mardi Gras celebrations in the Pacific Northwest, believe it or not. This must mean that Louisianians are everywhere in the US. On days like this I miss home a lot.
