That’s right, another Field Trip!!

Yes, I’m back from another field trip. This time we went to the Oregon Zoo with at least about four thousand other kids and their teachers and chaperones (Dear Bravo, I really think you should explore a reality show about Oregon Zoo field trip chaperones and the kids they, um, serve. Especially in heavy rain situations. Just saying. Tee hee).

I have been going on field trips to the zoo since Al was in kindergarten, but I was really surprised how much I knew about the zoo and the animals. Go me. I’m also surprised how much easier it is to take a field trip to the zoo since I’ve been walking and running and working out more. It has become more and more easy through the years, but now it’s like, “I’m not even breaking a sweat.” One must take into account that it was fifty two degrees outside. And rainy.

We had an amazing time, but we had a bit of a transition to make during lunch. Little A was not digging the picnic type of setup for all of those people, and I really can’t blame her. Max, of course, kicked back and ate his lunch, unfazed by the crowd and noise. Anyone who knows Max is not surprised by this. LOLOL.

By the end of our outing we saw lions, tigers, zebra, hippo, giraffe, otters,  porcupines, monitor lizards, ducks, ibis, bats, turtles, polar bears, penguins, black bears, elephants, monkeys and wild dogs. We probably saw more, but that’s all I could name off the top of my head.

Field Trip!

ImageToday I went on a field trip with Max and Little A to an ice cream parlor. There were cakes and pies and brownies and wonderful sweets and of course, rich, luscious ice cream! I think all field trips should involve ice cream. Who do I write to get that law passed? 🙂 The place was decked out with the energetic and fun artwork by kids from a local high school. The pastry case was full of astounding treats like strawberry rhubarb pie and chantilly cake. I’m definitely coming back here and getting a treat for myself during this Summer!

Field Trip!

This morning I went to Nike’s World Headquarters. I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest for twelve years, but I’ve never been there. Well, I’ve actually driven ALL AROUND it, but I did not stop the car and get out until today. Mind you, I had a reason. I didn’t just roll up on Nike. LOL. It’s huge, as world headquarters should be, but the campus blends in really well with the natural surroundings and city of Beaverton.

Remember my Dollar Store field trip in January?

Of course you do. I told you that Walmart was looking REALLY CLOSELY at the way that Dollar Tree and similar stores had revamped their image and was working on a similar concept, in light of the fact that Dollar store sales were exploding and Walmart sales, well, notsomuch. Well, today the first Walmart Express opened and Target will be opening four CityTarget stores in the next two years. Some analysts believe that Walmart and Target are too slow in their response to the shift, but it will be an interesting indicator of how the American shopper sees things.
