Tiptoeing through the tulips.

This week, the kids were out for Spring Break and we had beautiful, warm, sunny weather for three days straight. This, of course, meant that we had to take advantage. We visited a tulip farm and the colors of the blooms defied description. Every year photographers try to capture it, and their work is breathtaking, but it is one of those situations where you have to be there. A person could spend several days out there just taking it all in, much less putting it on canvas or paper or glass or plastic or fabric or whatever. Sharing it with people I love made it more wonderful.

Young A may be a future coffee drinker.

keepoutI say that because she is the most adamant non-morning person in our house. I come through, open her door, wish her a “Good Morning,” and after I leave I can hear her murmur something, close her door and lock it. I was not a morning person when I was younger, but I think she has me beat at the ripe old age of nine. Smh.

Field Trip!

ImageToday I went on a field trip with Max and Little A to an ice cream parlor. There were cakes and pies and brownies and wonderful sweets and of course, rich, luscious ice cream! I think all field trips should involve ice cream. Who do I write to get that law passed? 🙂 The place was decked out with the energetic and fun artwork by kids from a local high school. The pastry case was full of astounding treats like strawberry rhubarb pie and chantilly cake. I’m definitely coming back here and getting a treat for myself during this Summer!

Reading, writing and what?

Little A is in first grade. She’s doing pretty well at her reading and math thing, but the other day she informed her father that he was her friend. Then she informed him that “friends share”. What class is that? Government?
