Thursday Observations

On Arranged Marriage. My husband comes from a culture where arranged marriage is pretty much the rule. I can see how it would be less stressful to know up front that everybody wants to get married. And knowing that people who you know love you and want what’s best for you are choosing people they think would make a suitable mate.  That could make things a lot less stressful. Though I’d probably have given my parents a spec sheet or something if we had gone that route, hee hee hee.

I miss tolerance. Really. I remember a time when people could just practice faith in this country. They could try to be the best person they could and people who disagreed could do so peacefully. People weren’t trying to use it to call people stupid. Or hijack the government. Oh well.

The new Head and Shoulders really smells good.

Marriage traditionally has always been about the Unity of Resources; not based on this Western Notion of Romantic love conquering all. As a woman its great to have the power of choice and I guess that what makes America so great; but sometimes too much choice can be overwhelming.

I think that unrealistic expectations lie at the heart of what goes wrong in a lot of non-arranged marriages, but that can occur in arranged marriages too.
