Ninety three years ago, on the campus of Butler University, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority was founded by seven black female educators at a time and a place when their very existence was precarious at best. I am proud to be a member of this organization, and I am thankful for all it has meant to me through the years. Sometimes doors were opened for me and there have been times that I have been blessed to have opened doors for others. When I was a headstrong, cocky, naive new member of Sigma, I could never have fathomed all that I would learn and do and be because of this aspect of my life. Thank you founders, mentors, and sisters!
