Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV)
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Most of the time, I try to be careful about what comes out of my mouth, but Friday evening I found myself apologizing repeatedly to people close to me. I was exhausted from attempting to navigate the holiday season short staffed because my husband hurt himself pretty badly a few days ago. My oldest son and I were into an, um, intense conversation when he asked me why I couldn’t acknowledge and celebrate the positive things he had done as intensely as I was harping on something that was the result of nothing he did wrong. Sigh. I don’t usually hate it when he is right, but that time hit me right between the eyes. Then I found God whispering something like the verse above in my ear. Live and learn. Sigh.
