Today I ate lunch at school with Little A. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, veggies, fruit, rolls and little pumpkin pies with whipped cream. It was pretty decent. We ate while we listened to the sounds of conversations of others who were eating, swinging, and playing hop scotch and dodgeball. I always find it hopeful that no matter how many years have passed since I was a kid, and despite all of the technology they now have access too, children are essentially the same once you get them outside. It just seems to be much more difficult to get them outside these days. After we finished eating, we went to the book fair. We looked at books about fairies, animals and monsters before we found a journal and a sketch book to do stuff with later. When I was a kid, there was always a little art section full of books for people like me who liked to draw and paint. It sort of saddened me to see how much that sort of thing has diminished. I saw two or three nice books at the online book fair that were not available at school, so maybe I’ll get them as stocking stuffers for her and Max.
