I was sitting in a hospital waiting room. I kept hearing a child call for his mother. “Mommy, Mommy!” i started to get a little annoyed and looked around to try and find the mother because the child seemed to need something. “Mommy! Mommy!” I looked around and then I woke up, startled. The child was 2 year old Alex and he was waking me up because I fell asleep during our cartoon viewing time. I thought to myself, “I’m mommy. I’m somebody’s mommy. Wow. I think I’m a grownup now.” Never mind that I had been working, married and running a household on the other side of the country from my parents. I don’t think anything in my life has matured me more than wanting to be a good parent to my children.
The day I realized I was an adult.

That was such a sweet story! I can’t even imagine a little 2 year old Alex. LOL I realized that I was an adult when I moved to Small Town, Oregon and bought my first appliances. I felt like a I was really grown when I went into Lowe’s and picked out the washer and dryer that I’d researched and signed on the dotted line.
