What is the good life?

Sunday morning, I was sitting in church when that question was asked. It made me really think about the things I seek to attain in life and the values I want to impart on my children.

When my son Al was little, we’d go to the park just about every afternoon. A lot of times, we would see these kids running up the slide backwards. Their parents just let them have at it, but when Al would try to do the same thing, I would stop him, and tell him that it would hurt him. A lot of times, all of these years later, I’m back at the playground. Except now, the dangers are a lot more serious than a boo boo or two.

Some people think the good life is equated with an abundance of expensive items and money, but there has got to be more.

There is so much more. For me, the good life is waking up every morning and knowing exactly who I am. I thought I would have the good life once I left Broke-ville. But even after I left and entered Comfortable-town I still didn’t feel like I had the good life. Now? Things may not be perfect but I am so content with myself. I feel like I’m living the good life. Not the perfect life, but the GOOD life.

By the way, it’s me, Chele. I found my old WordPress password and now I’m logged in as this weirdo “topgirl”.

In my mind, a good life is living exactly the life that you want. It doesn’t have to materialistic but if you are doing what you want and you have what you want then you are living a good life.

I definitely agree with you and Chele, that being content is a big part of it.
