Monday uh, stuff…

Washington to address online fencing

I knew that some people had issues with becoming addicted to Eb.ay and I knew that some people sold stolen merchandise on E.bay, but I had no idea that it had been elevated to its own branch of organized crime. I’ve known people who sold stuff, but they just went to garage sales, found stuff of value, prettied it up and sold it.Nobody was recruited or hired to boost stuff. Testimony was offered today in support of legislation that would require online agencies to act when presented with evidence of theft. Why is it that these online companies have to be sued or threatened with criminal prosecution to do the right thing? Remember Mys.pace and that whole child predator thing? They had to have state attorneys threaten them before they started looking at child predators. This in the face of all of those Dat.eline investigations. Sigh.

Portland has won most sustainable city for the third year in a row in rankings compiled by SustainLane.com. One of the things I really like about the area is how people are enthusiastic about keeping the environment beautiful and usable for everybody.

Money is king; so if the Government doesn’t intervene; companies don’t give two rat sh*ts.

Love the idea of living around folks who just want a clean environment. I live in NYC and although I heart it; it has got to be one of the most filthiest cities in America. The air quality is piss poor and you can’t even see the stars on a cloudless night.

I know companies don’t care, but there was a time when they would have voluntarily backed off if they knew kids were being harmed, like with that whole my.space thing. I guess those days are gone. Sigh.

I used to live in the Bay Area, so I KNOW about bad air quality. I remember the first time I saw downtown Portland. I was awestruck. There were trees and stuff everywhere.
