high fructose corn syrup is a good thing? seriously?

Last week, I was talking to a couple of friends and the subject of high fructose corn syrup came up. Apparently a commercial had aired that said it was healthy, or at least okay to eat in moderation. Yesterday, I was subjected to a similar piece of propaganda marketing. In the piece I saw, a woman offered her boyfriend a Popsicle and he said no because it has high fructose corn syrup. Then the lady asked why he didn’t eat it and he couldn’t remember. I was sitting up there looking at the television like a smart kid in second grade,”I do! I do! Me! Me!” (raising my hand and shouting)

The body has a hard time breaking it down, it elevates blood fats, it helps build insulin resistance AND its manufacture utilizes chemicals to significantly alter the structure of the corn. Of course the spot also informed me that the corn refiners supported this ad. I need networks to have a little more ethical consideration (or at least consideration for their credibility) when airing advertisements.

High Fructose Syrup is poison. You should see the documentary ” King Corn”; it delves into how corn is processed as fuel, feed, and filler for damn near every unnatural product Americans stuff their faces with. An informed citizen can make better choices.

Citizens REALLY need to be informed in the face of those commercials. I looked at my husband during the commerical in total disbelief at the fact that this broad was touting high fructose corn syrup. He had to confirm what I had just heard, because otherwise I would not have believed it.

I think that they are advertising the stupidity of the average viewer to believe that there really is nothing wrong with HFCS. It shows an insulting lack of knowledge on the conversation starting individual’s part to back up the original statement. “You know what they say about (HFCS). . . ” Who starts a conversation knowing absolutely nothing about what they’re talking about? Who writes this stuff? It really is insulting, and seems designed to distract from the real issues. HFCS is just another man-made poison being pushed on us by greedy corporations to get us conditioned into relying on the greedy pharmaceutical companies to make us better with their miracle meds.
