The abstinence debate hits the VMAs?

Really? Considering MTV’s status as an internationally  known peddler of smut, this is highly interesting. I think that while my personal view of sex is that it is much too important an act to take on without serious consideration, I wouldn’t necessarily call those people who engage in practices that are not the same as mine sluts. You know, like Jordin Sparks did (see third para). I think it was brave of her to defend her position, but it can be done without insulting others. I believe that children should be told how their bodies work and how to behave responsibly when it comes to sex. I think that too many gaps are left with abstinence only education and it leads to a lot of young people becoming involved in risky sexual practices. When you are dealing with a young person’s life, it is best to put all of the cards out on the table. That includes protection and abstinence.
