A little tv.

Last night I sat down and watched a little tv. The usual stuff was on, but something told me to check out PBS. Zora Neale Hurston was being featured on American Masters. Her writings and her life and her anthropology work were discussed at length. Interviews with writers, historians, friends, even some of the people she interviewed during her research. Although I knew a lot about Zora Neale Hurston’s life and literature, I really like programs like this because there is always something new to learn. The documentary highlighted her achievements, but it was very realistic about her flaws. At one point, it was said that she was one of the people who lived her life honestly. With authenticity, which did not happen much in her time. I sort of chuckled to myself because not many of us are living with authenticity in 2008, but that’s another post for another time. 🙂
