This article really made me think.

One of the loudest, most intense shouting matches between democrats and republicans (so glad I’m neither) is on the topic of abortion. On the democratic side of the aisle, there is a blind embrace and acceptance of all things plan.ne.d pare.nth.ood, the largest provider of abortions in the country. I have yet to hear a serious discussion about the racist history of its founder, Margaret Sanger, or her allies. In a political party with such a large African-American presence, why is that?

A lot of conservatives aren’t better at all. A lot of them put hours and hours of energy into demonstrations, into guilting people in a bad situation, while not a lot of them put time into helpful solutions. I mean, you want a woman to have a child and put it up for adoption? Why not offer (or find someone to offer) to adopt said child? Some people do, but most people don’t.

I’m not pro-abortion by any means, but since the reality is that the procedure is legal, shouldn’t there be some kind of regulatory devices in place to ensure the safety of those who are victims recipients of the procedure? I’ve heard and read from people who worked in clinics and sometimes the instruments are not even properly sterilized between clients. Can’t better be done in the United States of America? Isn’t an imperative of Christianity to show mercy? I don’t think it’s merciful to allow people to be maimed for life as a result of this procedure. I would think that the emotional scars are more than enough.

I think a lot more needs to be done by parents and other adults with kids in their lives to convey the message that EVERY life is sacred. That with sexual activity comes real responsibility.
