I think that it is good that a film is pointing young people in the direction of HBCUs again, but I really wish that a film would come along that, well expresses the point of view of a young lady attending one of these schools. The path to womanhood through the doors of an HBCU. The process of becoming a GAW, as opposed to a silly girl or something. Black women being under assault in the media is getting kind of old. At least it is to me.
From the trailer I observed, I think that the movie propogates the divisions between black greek orgs, and to be honest, they should be as unified as possible because their current and future relevance is in serious question to say the least. I saw school daze and attended an HBCU, so I don’t think there is ANYTHING that they can tell me that would enhance my journey.
Think I’ll pass.
