Well over 30, but not quite 40 years ago, my folks tied the knot on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, January 15. And they have the nerve to call ME a militant, but moving right along… Another year and they are still together. Sometimes I can’t see past year eleven and here they are after three decades and some change.
I think that it is really important that Americans in general and African Americans in particular remain mindful of the full legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. He was more than a soundbyte and he fought for way more than desegregation. Although he was a major figure who accomplished great things, it is also important to learn of those who supported King and made a lot of his efforts possible.
Last year, I put the Letter From Birmingham Jail up on my blog. I think that every American ought to read it. I’m working on some things for the blog for Black History Month. I may revert to some biographies, but there are some things that I’m learning and planning on writing that I know will be very good. Only sixteen more days to go. Hee hee.
