13 year old mandatory AIDS testing?

The federal government is recommending that all people 13 to 60 get tested for AIDS here. I used to live in the state of california, and when pregnant women went in for prenatal care, a part of their mandatory blood panel was the hiv test. I can understand getting testing in the interest of unborn children, but I’m not so sure I’m comfortable with the possibility that someday one of my kids will be going in for a routine checkup and mandatory HIV test at the age of 13. I know that kids are much more savvy than I was (because I could not have even visualized doing things that would get me the virus at that point of my life). I’m already anticipating the sex talk with Al in the next year, or at least the sex talk, part one. I think the sex talk should be repeatedly had, because it’s not simple at all. There is THIS IS WHERE BABIES COME FROM, BUT DON’T RUN AROUND TRYING TO EXPERIMENT CAUSE I’M NOT RAISING YOU AND YOUR KIDS. Then there is RESPECT ALL WOMEN CAUSE YOU HAVE A MOTHER AND A SISTER and for the baby girl MEN DON’T ESTEEM WHAT THEY GET TOO EASILY IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, and so on and so on and so forth. I think these messages need to be reinforced. I’ve been an HIV counselor in college, but I never thought a mandatory test of 13 year olds would become a reality. I wish we could have mandatory counseling and mandatory self-esteem and sex respect for 13 year olds. Oh well.

Oh yeah, and I wouldn’t buy a prescription at wal-mart if they were giving them away. You want to talk about dirty money. Wal-mart is it.
