Wild Wednesday.

As you folks can see, I’ve had a lot of thoughts going on in my head at the same time, or at least in the past 24 hours.

A Moment to reflect.
*reaching for my lighter* For Bobby and Whitney… If they stay apart, if they get back together, Bobbi Kristina’s myspace site, just a moment of silence/prayer/more silence. Please.

The Digital Divide
This afternoon, I was browsing some news stories when I came across this one about the
digital divide that faces minority kids. According to the national center for education statistics, kids of color are less likely to use the internet on a regular basis than white kids. I won’t dispute the validity of the statistics, though every African American I know is on the net, and I know these stories virtually always have some gloom and doom about the brown and black among us, but I am not so sure about the reasoning behind the statistics. While American news may seek to inform and affect change, sometimes I wonder if these types of stories don’t simply serve as reinforcement of stereotyping and other negative racial behaviors. Hmm.

Dancing with the Stars
Why did Tucker Carlson even leave the house? How do you SKIP through a latin dance? I knew Republicans couldn’t dance, but he took it too far. LOL. Now when Jerry Springer shows you up… on the dance floor…LOL

Everybody else did much better. Especially Mario Lopez and Joey Lawrence. Vivica A. Fox even earned, well some of my respect. I’m sure the competition will be really good this year. I really like ballroom dancing although they like to keep those outfits a bit on the skimpy side. I don’t know if I’m ready to explain to the kids why the lady is dancing in her underwear or her swimsuit. I’m sure people can move with fabric on them. Or at least they could back when I went to dances and balls, you know, in the stone ages.

Other stuff on my mind.
Last night/early this morning, I couldn’t sleep for some reason. Big surprise there, I know, but the baby has been mellowing out at night. I just have to get used to sleeping again. I got up and took care of some back to school business for the kids.
Then I just read some back issues of a national advice column online. It was really sad. There was this woman who didn’t want a kid, but she had had one because she said her husband forced her to. She said she begged him to let her put the child up for adoption, but he wouldn’t and now he had been away from home for seven months and she and the child were miserable and thousands of miles away from her family. I hope she heeded the responding writer’s advice to get medical assistance for what could be postpartum depression in addition to family support and counseling services.
Being a parent is not easy (I’m not talking about being a sperm or egg donor – I’m talking about loving those cute little bundles of joy and providing for their needs and disciplining them when they start to show their asses). I’ve never thought that everyone should have kids, but children can’t control whether they are born. It’s up to us who are entrusted with them to make a way (legally and morally) to provide them with every opportunity to become successful contributors to our society and world. When we can’t/won’t do that, then it’s on us to find people who can provide for their needs, love them and discipline them. That’s just what I think.

yeah Wendy Williams was just talking about how a lot of women these days don’t wank kids and don’t have a maternal instinct. She has a kid and she said she was one of them. Honestly, she doesn’t have the time to raise a kid between the djaying, appearances and TV show. Fortunately she can afford a nanny to take care of her son. Another case in point…Anna Nicole. God bless her.

Yeah, Anna Nicole was always a parent who made me scratch my head. Wendy Williams is an original chick with ishas, but like you said, at least she has a nanny.
