Back to School Social

Tonight is the back to school social. Where I get to find out what’s what at school and stuff. Since I can see my ankles again, I guess I’ll be going. I’m so glad that my kids don’t start the year until the day after Labor Day.

My son has got to get past these 3:00 feedings. Yawn. Sheesh. I was supposed to start walking again yesterday, but whew. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe I’ll make time later this evening. Baby girl keeps trying to run off with the bottle. I don’t get that, but we’re working that out. Otherwise, everyone is adjusting remarkably well to the little guy.

My mother has been so helpful for the past month or so. She’s getting ready to go back home in the next couple of weeks. She and Al have bumped heads a little because she is old old school discipline, but we have all learned a lot from this visit. I really miss having my family around on a regular basis. Not right next door (I’m not trying to be Everybody Loves Raymond up in this piece), but maybe in the next state over. Definitely not having 8 hour flights or three day road trips to get home. I know I have to be patient and work hard and see how things turn out. Maybe it’s as my kids get older I’m really seeing where I want them to know their family better.

This is just the stuff on my mind today. Since the high is going to be under 70 today, maybe I’ll scare up some jambalaya or gumbo ingredients.

Awwww, you are about to throw down. My friend tried to convince to make some Gumbo this week but I wasn’t up for it.

Berry: It’s something, I’m surprised that I was up for it, but it started getting cool and I was honnngry… I guess it’s just the deep rooted Louisiana coming out or something.

Glory: I guess she still has those fond bottle memories. I missed my ankles for a couple of weeks because the heat made them swell up at the end of my pregnancy so my feet were just huge with no discernible ankles. Glad we’ve moved past that 🙂
