Yesterday evening, my husband was holding the baby and spinning her around in the family room. Her feet were hanging all off him. She looked like such a big girl. I remembered when they handed her to me just about a year and a half ago. No teeth, head full of short, black hair. Pointing to her mouth as if to ask for some food. Then I looked at my youngest son, who was a mass of arms and legs sprawled all over the loveseat and I remembered the first time I saw him. I even thought back to when I had Al. I’ve seen them grow and learn day by day, but sometimes I still wonder how they got so big. I used to carry each of them everywhere, and now I’m at the point where the baby is getting too big to carry around. One day, Lord willing, I’m going to be sitting in an auditorium at a college graduation, med school graduation, a church for a wedding ceremony, and I’m going to remember holding those cute little infants. Just like I do now, I guess.
