The Trip

Monday/Day One
So far, everyone seems okay. I think that the kids are pretty aware of what is going on. I know that things will probably become more difficult as the evening progresses. Fortunately, I have been working on a little illustrated story that explains to them where their father is. The stories used to really help my youngest son understand new concepts, so I hope that it helps them understand that even though he is gone for a few days, he will be back soon. Everybody will probably end up in my room tonight, though. That’s okay.

Tuesday/Day Two
Yesterday, the kids pretty much went to bed without a fight. I think the book I made really helped because it gave them a better idea of where their father was. This time is much easier than the past business trips. Maybe it is because the baby has her sleeping schedule and the boys are much bigger. I’ll still be glad when Thursday rolls around, though.

Wednesday/Day Three
We are in the home stretch. The baby won’t let me out of her sight. I shared some photos with her of her father. Her first response was like, “THAT’S what I was missing.” Then she looked at me like, “Why is he gone? What did you do? Cause I know you are responsible.” This, of course did not alleviate said watching me like a hawk. If that’s not enough, she fusses til she gets a book or gets a seat on my lap.
Al came around wanting his computer turned on. It is password locked so that he doesn’t spend 24 7 on it. He can’t figure out the password, although I think he must have been trying hard, because he came to me in frustration, “Why can’t you guys choose a simple password. like mole?” He’ll make it, though.

Thursday/Day Four
Tonight, my husband is coming back home! The kids were really good overall. The baby had some weepy moments. My youngest son had a few misbehaving moments, but overall, they coped very well with their father’s business trip. They are really antsy because they want to see him. I wish he had chosen an earlier flight. Maybe next time, although I hope it is a while before next time rolls around.

Now
Life is pretty much back to normal. My youngest son didn’t want to leave the house this morning because he didn’t want to leave his dad, but we’re all back home and adjusted now. Just in time for Mother’s Day, I guess.

I’m sure you missed him just as much as the babies did. LOL
