I wrote a while back about how my son is all about researching things on the internet. How he is all about researching things on Wikipedia. If you’re not looking over there, Al isn’t interested. This weekend, I wanted him to look up the Mapasaurus, the newly disovered meat eating dinosaur whose size is comparable to T-Rex.
I told him to use news sources since the discovery is recent, but he was not interested because he wanted to look it up on Wikipedia. He reassured me that the articles are updated regularly, but I told him it wasn’t about the Wik. It was about learning to use other sources. While I think Wikipedia is a good reference, I hope my son kicks his habit before he starts doing major research.

Google can be habit forming… LOL.I guess Wikipedia could be too if I didn’t spend the time I did reading other sources of information.

when I was in school i knew to use different resources because a lot of people get the same info from the same place, and I wanted my papers to be different.
