Monday Stuff.

Rainy Days and Mondays…
Who would have thought that after all of that great park weather, we would be shivering and wet from Friday until today? I guess the March snow should have been an indication of things to come. I had a doctor’s appointment today. Got up really early this morning so I could get poked and stuff. Blood pressure is good though.

Wifeswap
I don’t really watch this show, and tonight I kind of figured out why. I was flipping through channels. One family had this whole etiquette thing going on, and the other one, well, let’s just say, they made me turn off the television and clean the family room. They were that bad. Trust me. The baby saw the children of this family running through the grocery store, touching things, pulling coupons out of the coupon holder and her eyes lit up. I looked her dead in the face and said, “Fuggetaboutit.” Cause her world will get WRECKED if she tries to run up in the grocery store like she is one of Bay Bay’s kids.

No Child Left Behind
Not that this was one of my favorite pieces of legislation (don’t you love how people make these great and lofty goals, and yet provide inadequate – and that’s putting it mildly – funding to accomplish them?), but did you know that states are excluding test scores from their No Child Left Behind compliance data? Now you can call this a coincidence if you want to, but a great number of these ommitted test scores are for children of color. This means that a state can skirt around the issue of an achievement gap altogether under the guise of not reporting insignificant minority data. Okay.

good health – that’s the hotness

wife swap – sorry i missed last night, ’cause that show is the hotness.

nclb – was never ever the hotness. what we need is an overhaul of the system design, not brownie points on how to skirt accountability and be mediocre better than all the other schools

I think I saw a portion of the same wife swap you were watching. I was so irritated I had to turn off the television also.
    Holla!

I’ve seen a couple of wife swaps and they were good, but there have been a few where I just had to turn off the tv or keep surfing, cause they were a hot mess.

No Child Left Behind may have meant well, but its execution is another, well, hot mess.

There are some train wrecks that you just have to turn away from. I think last night’s episodes was one of those.
