This year, for Good Friday, I thought I’d put together a big traditional fish dinner or something, because where I’m from, that’s what we have. We have a bouillabaisse
and a lot of other fish dishes. Today, actually is great weather for soup. However, my feelings were a bit hurt when I went to the market for fish. Alaskan salmon is at 25 bucks a pound!! Local salmon is at 15 bucks, and I know it’s going up since the fishing season is going to be short this year. Blasted sea lions.
The effects of Katrina aren’t lost on us, either. Y’all I saw MINIATURE CRAWFISH in the store. Miniature crawfish??? I remember the crawfish boils that my folks would have during the summer. Huge heaping bags of what I guess were supersized crawfish and the spicy boil and corn and potatoes… Life is so much simpler when you aren’t paying for stuff, eh?
Also, as much of a healthy eater as I try to be these days, those Honeybaked Ham commercials are really starting to work on me. Does anybody out there dig Peeps? I don’t get them at all. Maybe it’s the childhood trauma of having them forced on me at a young age. I think Peep jewelry is cute though. Happy Easter.

I love Peeps from some reason. My Mom wouldn’t let me eat too many of them because that sugar and marshmallow was not good for a kid. I was in fifth gear for most of Easter Sunday.
