Love from a distance

If there is one lesson that I have learned in the past ten to twelve years, it is that sometimes you have to love folks from a distance. I never thought that I’d have to apply that knowledge to some of my closest family members. They are in my prayers and thoughts, but I’d be remiss in my responsibilities as a parent if I did not keep back from these folks. It is that serious. I really hope that in a few years I can look back at this dark page in their lives as a part of their pasts and not the determining factor of their lives, or the beginning of the end for them. Or the beginning of the end of our relationship.

Girl, I hear you loud and clear. It is obvious why I didn’t and still don’t spend a lot of time with most of my family…that is the beauty of friends. At least you can pick and choose them.

I feel you on this. Sometimes you just have to wish people the best and step out of their lives until they are in a place where you can let them in again. And what better time to make these types of decisions than the end of the year. Which reminds me: Happy New Year!
