the party.

Saturday, I went to a party at the home of one of my close friends. We talked about what had been going on in each others’ lives since we had last spoken a few months ago. Since I had the baby, I don’t get out like I used to. I am working on my social emergence program. I thought the party would be a good chance for me to see my friend and actually have conversation with adults. For the most part, it was a nice ladies night out of hanging out after the cocktail hour. We didn’t even bash men. That part was really nice.
Most of the people at the party had a few martinis or no martinis and socialized and stuff. Note that I said most of the people. There were two people who got straight hammered. Maybe they were unaware of the power of a good martini, and they were only down the street so they could walk home, but these chicks got tore up from the floor up. You know when people drink so much that they start saying all kinds of personal information that you keep a straight face while processing, all the while thinking, “oh no she di-in’t” in the back of your mind? I was a witness to such overimbibing, and that might be cute when it’s just a person and his or her closest friends, but otherwise, it’s kind of annoying.
Toward the end of the evening, we played a game of Taboo, and guess who ended up on my team? Drunk and Mo Drunk. I take my games seriously, shoot. I have been known to swap out siblings who weren’t on point. Hee hee hee. That made the evening even more interesting, I guess.
And to top all of that off, they (the people who got really toasted) invited me to go along on their journey NEXT WEEKEND to hit bars so that they could find out what a mojito was. I know what a mojito is, so I had to politely decline. I had something to do. I could watch some paint dry or something. SOMETHING. Just not dealing with folk who can’t hold their liquor. I didn’t even do that mess in college.
Overall, even with Drunk and Mo Drunk on my team, though, it was a fun night, overall. Must be something about holiday parties.

why do some people like getting plastered? i prefer when folks get to “happily buzzed” and leave it at that…

I don’t know why some people think that being smashed makes them more interesting. Happily buzzed works for most, but some always have to push the envelope.
