My eight year old son, Al (you know, the one who burnt up some stuff in the microwave a few months ago), came to me yesterday demanding the video camera. I asked him why, and he said that he wanted to make a film and his father would need the video camera. I told him to make sure his father was supervising his “filming”. He looked at me and said, “Mom,
Dad will be the cameraman. I’m going to be the star.” Oh. Excuse me.
A few minutes later, he was prompting his father on where to film his “scene” about the exploits of “Danger Man.” My husband looked at me like, you want me to film this stuff for him? I said, “Sure. This stuff is going to come in handy later on when he is a cool young man in high school. Great blackmail material.” Al proceeded to direct his first few “scenes” with the promise of more next week. He had an interesting little monologue for his super hero.
My sister is going to get him a digital camera for Christmas so that he can take pictures of his world and swap them with her. I wonder if this is going to develop into a personal gallery showing or something.
