This week, the refrigerator bit the dust. I wrote a few of my thoughts each day. Here they are.
Day 1 – Monday
I got up this morning to make the boys breakfast. I opened the freezer to get some waffles for my youngest when I noticed a PUDDLE in the freezer. That’s not good. I thought that the freezer was defrosting because of one of the kids fondness’ for opening the door (which has been taken care of), but this looked a lot more ominous. By lunchtime, I was frantically trying to set up an appointment with an appliance repairman. The earliest appointment is Wednesday, which means that I can kiss anything in there goodbye. A moment of silence, please. I just bought a lot of grocery, not to mention my recent trip to Costco. Whhhhyyyyy!!!
It could have been worse. I could have gone through this on Thanksgiving or the day before. Then I simply would have had to destroy my refrigerator. Nobody messes with my bird. Nobody.
Day 2 – Tuesday
The house is cooler than the fridge. Everything is cooler than the fridge. I know that this could be a lot worse, and I could have much bigger problems looming on the horizon than dealing with this refrigerator, but the nonperishable food items are starting to get a little old. I’ll remember that the next time I put together some nonperishable food to donate to those less fortunate. I’ll try my best to donate really good quality stuff that tastes good. I usually donate good stuff, but I’ll make extra sure that it is tasty…You never realize how much you use something until it goes broken. I’ll treat my refrigerator right, if it comes back. Listen to its problems. Take it for long walks in the park. Give it more hugs… Hee hee…
Day 3 – Wednesday
Today is repair day. I really hope that everything goes well with this fridge. If not, I have already picked out its replacement. In all of my years as a grownup, I’ve never had fridge problems. I am thankful for that blessing.
Day 4 – Thursday
This morning I got up to ice in the ice maker. Thank you Lord for ice. Now I have to go grocery shopping. I had an entire week’s menu planned out and shopped for (not to mention the stuff in the freezer) so I have to try it again. No more restaurant food/unperishable meals. The fridge IS sparkling clean, though. The repair bill hurt a little (around 300 bucks), but I am so glad to be on the road to refrigerated food again, I can handle it. I have a whole new insight on the fridge, though. All is once again right with TJ world, well sort of.
