I know this song has been done by everybody and their mama, but I still like it. I like the Dixie Chicks version and I like it when she (Stevie Nicks) performs it herself. It’s so universal. She wrote it at a time when she wasn’t sure if she should keep trying at music or just give the whole thing up. Right before she hit it big. I think we all reach that frustration/turning point/moment of clarity/crossroads type of situation at some point in our lives. Thought I’d write the lyrics.
i took my love, i took it down
climbed a mountain and i turned around
and i saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
’til the landslide brought me down
oh, mirror in the sky
-what is love?
-can the child within my heart rise above?
-can i sail thru the changin’ ocean tides?
-can i handle the seasons of my life?
i don’t know…..
well, i’ve been afraid of changin’
’cause i’ve built my life around you
but time makes you bolder
children get older
and i’m getting older too
oh, take my love, take it down
climb a mountain and turn around
if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
well the landslide will bring it down
if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
well the landslide will bring it down
the landslide will bring it down
