Back to School Musings

Labor Day has come and almost gone. Tomorrow will be my boys’ first day of school. My oldest will be in THIRD GRADE and my baby will be in kindergarten. Third grade. He has this whole cool thing going. “Mom, that’s not cool.” I remember when his favorite song was Itsy Bitsy Spider. Now he’s cool. Whatever. We got his books today, and his math book is HUGE and HEAVY. No wonder those kids carry backpacks with wheels on them. My other son has a huge math book too. I remember when you just played games, learned some alphabets and took a nap and ate graham crackers in kindergarten. Maybe that was preschool. Whatever, but I didn’t have big old books for KINDERGARTEN. Sheesh.

Then there are clothes. My sons aren’t too particular. They just like nice colors and stuff that looks decent. Good thing. I would hate to hurt some feelings over what passes for cool these days. I went to the store and there were some jeans (EXPENSIVE JEANS, MIND YOU) that looked like they needed to be burned. They looked raggaly. Not raggedy. Raggaly. AND DIRTY. Of course they were huge… I am not EVEN coming to pick my son up from class because his pants fell off.

Books in kindergarten? I don’t even remember having a bookbag. That is not cool. LOL!!! Give the babies a kiss for me.

Yeah, Glory, we know you wants to be mean to the babies… LOL… but that book really threw me. I double checked it like, is this REALLY for him? I guess it was. 🙂
They even have computer literacy. I didn’t take computer literacy until I was a freshman in high school, and chile, I was cutting edge back then 🙂

It’s a new day…the babies are learning to read, add, subtract and even learn fractions in K now. No joke!
