Stronger than playground equipment, faster than a kid with a crayon, more powerful than the trembling lip… Look! Up in the Sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Captain Save A Kid!!!
That’s right, Captain Save A Kid. In daily life, Captain Save a Kid is otherwise known as Mom, Mommy or Mama. You know, the parent you call, when you really get into a bad situation.
Let me explain. I have three kids. My youngest, who is now seven months, has learned to say ma-ma… That’s all well and heartwarming and cute, but I just want to know one thing… Why is it that when situations are all breezy and fun and lighthearted, da-da is the first word out of these kids’ mouths? Then when they are in a real pickle, it’s time to learn about mama… Just a couple of nights ago, she was yellin and screamin, cryin “ma-ma…MAMA…” when she got stuck into a mess. Why can’t it be life is good, I’m havin a good day, mama? It’s gotta be “I did something I got no business so please come and save me, MAMA” . My husband says that they feel the love. I’m all fine with that, and I’m even willing to fork over my tights and cape if he wants to use em the next time they call, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
