2014, Day 65: Still Authentic

When things get really hectic around here, I sit still for a few moments until I remember what my word for this year was supposed to be and I’m always so happy when, not only have I not forgotten, but I am able to shift my perspective toward the goal. Yay me! I haven’t gone as far in my creative pursuits as I would have liked to, but I have accomplished a lot and not at the expense of the most important aspects of my life. I’m winning. Today.

daisiesHave you ever tried so hard to inspire someone else that there was just a little inspiration left over for you? That happened to me this morning. I helped somebody with a problem and then I got this little crafty idea and now I just want to run out and do stuff. The fact that today is Friday might have something to do with it too, but whatever it is, I’m very good with it. Have a great weekend!

Setting the tone.

sunflowersI try to make sure that the first thing I hear in the morning and the last thing I hear in the evening is positive, especially when I’m dealing with drama. I also try to keep my social media and library ¬†filled with people whose work I love and respect. I’m not walking around in denial of the bad things that happen in life, but it helps me so much to have bright and beautiful corners of my world to contrast with the inevitable negativity. My dad used to tell me, “Show me who you follow, and I’ll show you who you are.”

Song of the day.

This weekend, I met many, many beautiful women whose stories and lives moved my heart and inspired me to live a better life and seek to inspire others. For the past few days I’ve been playing this song, which reflects how I feel. Enjoy.
