For the past few years I’ve been choosing a word to set a tone for all of the ways in which I wanted to grow and change and touch the lives of others. Last year’s word was diligence,  and I have to admit it was the most challenging word I have chosen. The word I chose for 2014 is authentic. This holiday season, for me, was about spending time with people I cared about and doing what I could to bless them, not hurting myself attempting to present a perfect image of my life that is not real. It was so liberating and I can’t wait to live my life that way, striving for excellence and balance with equal intensity. Go me.

    • No, but I have read some of The Gifts of Imperfection, and I found it really interesting because by then a lot of what she was saying had been in my head for a while.
