This evening I heard that Hostess had liquidated its equipment and shuttered its doors. I had heard that the company was on the verge of bankruptcy a few months ago, but I guess this is really the end. No more Cupcakes, Ho-Ho’s, Ding-Dongs, Sno-balls, Fruit Pies, or Wonder Bread. I can’t remember the last time I had a Twinkie (which might help explain why the bakery has gone out of business), I enjoyed one from time to time when I was growing up. They tasted better when I was a kid, too, or were my memories a result of my unrefined taste buds? Sigh. Now I’ll never know.
