Monday News: East Coast Storms and Anderson Cooper.

Millions of people have lost power and 14 people are dead as a result of a thunderstorm system that knocked down trees from North Carolina to New Jersey. This picture is of the Goldberg family of Washington DC (Washington Post). Look at the size of that tree. Sigh.

Why is the fact that Anderson Cooper said he is gay such big news? I follow several news sources and they ALL announced his announcement like it was a breaking story this morning. I know who Anderson Cooper is and I get that a lot of people know who he is, but I also know that the people who needed that information already had it.  The sad part is that I know that more important news was overlooked so that CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, and Time Magazine could tell me something that’s really not my business.

  1. I wish we knew only what was absolutely necessary about public figures. TMZ and these “entertainment” shows are so annoying and intrusive.

    • It seems like a handful of people in the news business care about the important aspects of what goes on in our government, but who’s sleeping with who is so important *shrugs*.
