Ok, boys and girls. Today’s word for the day is hexavalent chromium. It’s a substance used in the formulation of stainless steel and chrome plating. You can guess that it’s not a good thing to find in one’s tap. If you’re familiar with the story inspired by the movie, Erin Brockovich then it should sound eerily familiar because it is also known as chromium 6, which had seeped into the drinking water of Hinkley, California. Now it’s been found in water supplies across this country. Some experts say it’s cause for alarm and others feel that the large amount of arsenic in private wells is a larger cause for concern. Can’t we be freaked out about both of them? I’m just saying.
