Psychosis drugs for preschoolers?

About seven years ago, I was talking to one of my sister’s friends who, at the time, worked as a counselor with kids, including some who had been medicated for ADD, ADHD, and other challenges. He was telling me that he was having to make lots of calls to parents to suggest that dosages be adjusted because the kids were just stoned. I know that some kids have disorders that leave them unable to function without medication, but I think that drugs should be used as an absolute last resort, after changes in routine, diet and everything else have been applied. Yes, that’s a hard row to hoe. I have four kids, and I have changed routines, diets, and everything else you can imagine on occasion, but drugging them is not always the answer. As a matter of fact, most of the time, it’s not the answer.

So, needless to say, this story was shocking to me. I know 18-month-old boys can be difficult at times (I’ve had three of them), but I can not imagine giving one psychosis medications for temper tantrums in most circumstances.
