Fresh basil.

Due to the fact that the weather in these parts did not even break into Spring until after Independence Day, we found ourselves with technical difficulties in our back yard garden this season. We still have a few plants that have managed to hold on, though, including a couple of organic basil plants my husband got for us while he was out shopping once it was apparent that we would have weather resembling Summer in 2010. The plants have had a few challenges (cloudy weeks, me forgetting to water them, ), but they are healthy now and their fragrance radiates throughout the kitchen. I took a couple of bunches of basil leaves and made a nice meal with pasta on Friday.
