What’s that I hear in the background? CA-CHIIING!! If this ruling stands (and it just might), there will be much more than water flooding out of New Orleans. A Federal Judge ruled that the federal government’s failure to maintain the levees caused so much of the destruction that has yet to be repaired in the Lower Ninth Ward and St. Bernard Parish. The other day I drove past a dam that is PROPERLY maintained by the corps and the structure is a sight to behold. It really hurt me that a similar thing could not have been done for the people of Louisiana and alleviated, if not completely avoided what happened during Hurricane Katrina (you know, notwithstanding the scandalous and jackleg politics that take place in the state).
Is this the end?
Remember that song by New Edition (you know, the group Bobby Brown was in back in his early *cough* musical career?) Anywho. It

looks like the O show will be coming to a close after 25 seasons, a good run by anyone’s standards. I don’t watch much anymore, but I can safely say my talk show watching will have come to a conclusion after the final episode. There are several quality shows out there, but there is nothing like that show. Did I mention that her ad rates have held steady since the recession? Somebody is going to lose a LOT of money behind this. I’m just saying. 🙂
Have I ever written how I really feel about our treasury secretary?
Since I try to be respectful of people’s positions, probably not, or at least in a civil way. I think there is something really wrong with the fact that our treasury secretary allowed all of those huge bonuses to go to people whose greedy and unethical behavior caused so many of the problems that the regular, everyday American worker is dealing with. We (the American people, you know that group of folks who is footing the bill for all of this foolishness) needed someone in that office who was not scared to tell these companies that because they are owned by the American government, there is this funny little thing called accountability. It happened with the automobile manufacturers. Why could it not happen with the bankers and insurers? Because they were our treasury secretary’s former coworkers?
