Getting it together. Sort of.

redballtreeWe’re getting everything together for the holidays (you know that means I’m getting everything together for the holidays – serenity now, serenity now). I’ve decided where I want to take photos for the annual Christmas card (I hope the weather agrees because the place is beautiful), which I think we brought back last year after a two year or so hiatus. I never really understood how much people liked getting them until I stopped.

Funny thing about the South, you can be a thirty some odd year old woman, married, with kids, living in your home, even operated a few of your own businesses, but if you don’t send out a Christmas card, people tell your mama how they miss receiving them. It’s an effective means of communication, but still.

It’s something how my list has evolved from an address book to a tiny address holding device to a full on database. Little A and I are working on a turkey collage this evening so she can bring it back to school and showcase it. I suppose I’ll have to have a side project to keep Max busy because he likes to be involved in this kind of stuff too. Al is a pretty helpful kid most of the time, but he has just about perfected his pre-teen attitude. Sigh. Nat is his usual self. I have to work on helping him come out of his shell (so he can have pre-teen attitude like his brother? hope not).

My big project for November is working on imparting more thankfulness into the kids. You know, teaching them to be more grateful for the blessings in their lives. If they can get a grasp on that, it can follow them year round for the rest of their lives.
