They have good insurance, too.

“Each time he has a tube change, it’s $150. Each hospital visit is $250. Each emergency room visit is $100. Each surgical procedure is $100,” Elliott said. “In the past 30 days, we’ve had two ER visits, a hospital stay, his prescriptions.”

I know that a popular reply to anyone who brings up a need to fix our broken system of health care and health insurance is, “We have good insurance.” or “The United States has the greatest health care system in the world!” but so many families with good insurance are being wiped out by a major illness (won’t even go into the families who finally choose death over continued financial ruin).

Yeah….unfortunately good insurance does not equal low health care bills. We get sicker…hospitals get richer.
