For the last couple of days I have been reading about the consideration of the maximum security prison in Standish, MI (about 145 mi north of Detroit) as a site for the transfer of the remaining detainees from the prison in Guantanamo Bay (the prison at Leavenworth, KS is another possibility). Unemployment in the area is a dismal 17 percent, so some residents are desperate for the prisoners to be transfered in hope that jobs will be spared at the largest employer in the area, the prison. I had a feeling that the biggest proponents of the closing of the prison in Guantanamo would NOT be seeing the detainees moved to their districts, but rural Michigan? Ok.
I’ve seen some weird random pop up advertisements, but the one I encountered for these folk took the cake. And the plate. And the table. It was for a web site called Established Men that pairs rich men with fiesty young, uh, special friends, but according to Nightline, maybe the old fashioned way of helping these people meet up was not so bad after all.
