Heroes

The Carnegie Hero Medal is awarded to regular people (or their heirs) who have saved the lives of others. The award consists of a medal and six thousand dollars. It was established by Andrew Carnegie, the steel magnate. Since its inception, over thirty-one million dollars have been given. Nineteen were honored this year.
