thursday observations

These are a few things I noticed while I was doing my school volunteer work today.

  • The last time I had a full belly laugh was when Al’s academic advisor asked me if his paternal grandmother was from out of town. She lives in India, so I smiled and said, “Yes, you can say that.” Maybe it was the fact that she is the most Indian person I’ve ever met that made me laugh at the question.
  • A student’s grandmother donated a large collection of National Geographic magazines as a resource for the kids to work with. She was embarrassed by the nudity of some of the people therein. Some people walk around naked. So what? A lot of the ideas Americans hold onto are much more harmful and disgusting than the fact that some women lead their entire lives with their breasts unbound.
  • If you want to freak out a Star.buck’s employee, just drive up, order a small cup of black coffee , and watch the magic happen.
