Eye to Eye

Saturday morning I witnessed an intense test of wills. Max and the hubby. See, Max woke up a little early, so we put him in the bed with us so that we could get sleep and know where Max was. Did I mention he’s a busy little one year old? Moving right along. He snuggled between us and got comfortable. My husband reached around him to give me a hug and what did he do that for. Max pushed his hand back. That’s when the non verbal male stare battle ensued. Hubby looked at Max as if to say, “Oh no you di – int!” and Max looked at Hubby as if to say, “Oh yes I DID!” For about five minutes they were locked eyeball to eyeball. I think Max finally gave up. Smh. He has a lot of guts for a fifteen month old.

The thing is, that some days I feel like Max and my husband. The new me, working harder for myself and my family to be better off spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially is standing shoulder to shoulder with the old me, and my self-sabotage. They both have their issues, but I have to do what I can to ensure that the new me wins in the long run. cause on days like this, neither is blinking.

That sounds like my youngest. LoL It’s like the child can SENSE “infiltration” and is having none of that. The old and new you? That’s going to be an uphill battle…just take the good qualities out of the old and carry on with the new.
