Overreacting Mama Moment

I just had a moment. One of those “Ring the Alarm” moments. LOL. See, I was reading this article, which asked if kids’ costumes, and girls’ costumes in particular were a bit too suggestive. What in the world does a child need with fishnet stockings or corsets? CORSETS. Most little girls are straight up and down and got nothing to pull in with no laces. Of course, the marketing person interviewed for the article said that the costumes weren’t more sexy, just more “confident”. I need to be told about the “confidence” that is generated by a young girl dressed as a french chambermaid. Then again, no I don’t because I’m not buying that mess.

Now, I know that a lot of grown women have just about lost their minds in the desperate pursuit of a little male attention during the ho-liday. I mean, women are in the gym double timing to make it into these skimpy little costumes, but little girls? I’m so naive. I’m thinking cinderella, fairy princess, doctor, lawyer, historic woman, MAYBE a FULLY COVERED witch or pirate. I hope my daughter doesn’t come at me with fishnet requests. Ever.

I’m with Tiki! This is some mess. Children know way too much about the world, as it is.
