Motivation

I was really inspired by this story. I had no idea of the extent of the diabetes epidemic among women of color until a few years ago, when three or four women I had known died of the disease and several others I had known discussed their experiences with type 2 diabetes. I was well aware of the statistics, but nothing like personal experience makes something like this real. For a little while, it seemed like diabetes was about me everywhere. I seemed to be reading about or hearing about people who were affected, it seemed constantly. I guess that part of my efforts to take control of my health is my experiences of loss and my determination to be an active and vital part of the lives of those I love for as long as possible.
