I might have to cut out the limited television my kids already watch. Al tells me, while watching Discovery Kids, that we are going to make tons of money. I’m like, what? It’s a commercial for some business scheme called SMC, which is some kind of specialty marketing corporation where you choose and sell catalog merchandise, I think. I tell him, but I don’t know what SMC is. He tells me that it doesnt matter cause we are going to make lots of money. Then they show a man who has made 350K with the corporation. I ask him if this is what he wants. He is beaming from ear to ear. I ask him what he is going to do with the money. “We can buy lots of things!” Like what? “A plasma screen television and a swimming pool.” But don’t we have a television? “Plasma tvs come with lots of movie channels.” Oh, really.
I have a feeling that I am going to have to sit my son down and explain to him how advertising works again. “Everything they tell you will make you a lot of money will not always make you a lot of money, son.” Then there is the fact that we don’t want to just run headlong into any business venture because it promises us money. If we go into sales, we have to have products and services we feel proud to offer to our clients. We just can’t go running after a buck. LOL. Ah, life lessons. Gotta love them.
