I understand that people love New Orleans. I understand what it is to lose ones home. I also understand what it is to want to return. Sometimes it is not possible though. I don’t know why parents would send their kids to go to school in New Orleans while they stay (and work) in Houston and other cities. Kids are pretty much having to raise themselves because parents think that them being back in New Orleans give them a sense of normalcy? Wouldn’t being with one’s parents give them a sense of normalcy? I couldn’t live and work in another state from my child unless it was a boarding school situation and even then, I’d be keeping CLOSE tabs on what is going on. These are kids just out there on their own. In high school, when they really need parental guidance. Why can’t they just go to school where the parents live now and transfer into New Orleans later? It would be easy to say this is throwed off (because it looks QUITE throwed off), but I’ll just say I don’t understand this at all.
I can’t wait to see Dreamgirls.
I was excited when I first heard that a movie was going to be finally made about the musical. Everybody is RAVING about Jennifer Hudson’s performance (Jennifer Holiday DID say she was proud of the performance-what else is there?). I think this is a great story about her and her contribution to the film. Everybody is talking oscar buzz. I usually don’t give credence to that, but from what I’ve heard of this performance, I might break my it’s hard out here for a pimp/how somebody named crunchy black got a statuette and cicely tyson don’t induced boycott. Maybe.
